Fun Fashions Boutique started in 2014 with one job: put women in jeans that actually fit. Twelve years on, the denim is still the heart of the shop — and beside it now hangs a small collection of handcrafted wooden wall clocks, chosen with the same eye for things that are made well and made to last.
How it started
Kathy Baker opened Fun Fashions Boutique in Stanfield, Oregon, in 2014 after one too many afternoons watching friends walk out of big-box stores with jeans that fit at the register and nowhere else. She hand-picked every pair herself — bootcut, straight, wide leg, high rise — and tried them on real bodies before they went on the rack. That rule has never changed: if it doesn't hold its shape through a full day, it doesn't make the shelf.
Today most of our customers shop online, but the boutique is still a real place on West Coe Avenue, the denim is still tried on before it's listed, and the email is still answered by a person who works here.
From the closet to the wall
Good denim and good woodwork have more in common than you'd think: both are about honest material, clean construction and something that looks better with age. So when we met a small workshop turning single slabs of solid wood into wall clocks — live-edge tree slices, carved wave and floral forms, oversized farmhouse dials with Roman numerals — adding them to the boutique felt natural.
Each clock is cut and finished by hand from one piece of solid wood, fitted with a silent sweep movement, and sent with the battery in. No two are the same, because no two slabs are the same.
